SCATA Members Newsletter May 2020

Dear SCATA Member

I hope you and your family and friends are remaining well through these challenging times. I've heard anecdotal reports of orthopods furloughed to their gardens, passing time alternately sending emails and pulling weeds from the patio with surgical precision. No doubt this represents an extreme end of the spectrum but I'm sure we're all looking forward to returning to whatever the new "normal" will be.

SCATA was due to hold its annual members meeting in Belfast on 1st June. Clearly this can't go ahead as planned but I'm proposing that we hold an online meeting using Jitsi (jitsi.org).

I've created a doodle poll with a variety of days and times in w/c 1st June. If you'd like to attend, could you please give your preference by Thursday 28th May, so that I can announce the chosen date/tme on Friday 29th May.

The link for the poll is:

I will post an agenda on the SCATA web site today but if there are any items you'd like raised, please let me know before the 28th May.

The SCATA committee continue to meet online. At our last meeting, we discussed the #gashack2020 meeting scheduled for the weekend of the 16th October. I've had some interest already from potential attendees and I'll get a simple registration form up on the SCATA web site this week. The meeting will be free to attend and will follow the usual hackathon "format" but hopefully with a variety of pop-up short presentations through the weekend to keep the non-technical attendees amused.

More details to follow in the June newsletter.
