21-Jan 2018

Dear SCATA Member
Firstly, apologies to the thirty-or-so SCATA members that received the August update in their inboxes back in November. As you probably guessed, this was sent in error.
SCATA's 31st Annual Scientific Meeting will be in Cardiff on 14-15 May 2018 at the Exchange Hotel, Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff CF10 5FQ.
The theme is "Making Intelligent Use of Data" and the local organisers are Drs Michael Lim, Nathan Tweed and John Meredith.
We are hoping to run a 3D Printing Workshop on Wednesday 16th May, depending on demand.
Details are on the meeting programme. The annual dinner will most likely be at the conference hotel on the Monday evening.
Please put the date in your diary and publicise the meeting locally in your departments and through social media.
Online booking is open and the draft programme is available on the web site.
10 CPD points have applied for from the RCoA

As per our last communication, we are holding a one-day working group meeting at the AAGBI on Monday 26th February 2018. There is a draft agenda available here
There are only a few places available at this meeting as the room only holds 10, so if you would like to attend, can you contact me directly : [email protected]

Lastly, I want to extend my thanks to SCATA member J.P. Lomas who co-organised SCATA's first #gashack event at the RCoA back in October. You may have seen the report in the College's Trainee Newsletter, but in case you missed it, it's on page 7: here.
JP was instrumental in securing the support of the college and we hope to make this an annual event, perhaps tied to a two-day educational event on the following Monday/Tuesday.

As ever, if you have any questions, please ask. You can reply to this email.

Regards,
Dr J Grant Forrest
Chairman and Webmaster
